ANDREW HARMON
Andrew Harmon is a double bass performer and teacher in the Portland area where he plays with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, 45th Parallel, Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Portland Chamber Orchestra, Yakima Symphony, Symphony Tacoma, Montana Baroque Music Festival and Amadeus Chamber Orchestra among other ensembles. Before relocating from the Chicago area in 2015, Andrew was principal bass of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. He also performed with the Rockford Symphony, Heartland Festival Orchestra, Opera Illinois, Madison Symphony and the International Beethoven Project. Andrew has been a clinician with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony (Portland), Vancouver Youth Chamber Orchestra and in Vancouver and Lake Oswego schools. A St. Louis native, Andrew studied with members of the St. Louis Symphony, Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera of Chicago. He earned a BA in English and music from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and MA in the humanities from the University of Chicago. In his free time, Andrew enjoys hiking and biking with his wife cellist Karen Schulz-Harmon and young daughter Estère.
